Link Necromancer ("the App") is a Reddit Developer Platform (Devvit) app. This policy explains what data the App accesses, stores, and shares with third parties.

1. Information the App Accesses

Through Reddit's Devvit platform APIs, the App reads publicly visible content in the subreddits where it is installed: post and comment text, post links, comment scores, and thing IDs (e.g. t3_…, t1_…). It does not access private messages, non-public profile data, or any information beyond what Reddit already exposes to an installed, moderator-approved app.

2. Information the App Stores

The App stores the following in its own Redis instance, scoped to each installing subreddit:

• A rolling activity log (URL checked, verdict, timestamp) capped at a fixed size, used to power the live dashboard.
• A dedupe record of which post/comment + URL combinations have already been checked or replied to, so the App does not reply twice.
• A pagination cursor tracking scan progress through the subreddit's posts.

This data is not shared across different subreddit installations and is not sold or provided to any third party for advertising or analytics purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

To determine whether a URL is dead and find an archived copy, the App sends the URL text (and nothing else) to:

• A link-check proxy operated by the App's developer, which fetches the URL to check its HTTP status. Reddit's platform only permits outbound requests to specifically allow-listed domains, so this proxy exists to perform the arbitrary-URL check on the App's behalf.
• The Internet Archive's Wayback Machine (archive.org), a public API used to look up an archived snapshot of a dead URL.

Neither service receives any Reddit account information, message content beyond the single URL being checked, or any other personal data.

4. Cookies & Tracking

The App runs server-side on Reddit's infrastructure and displays a live activity dashboard as a Reddit post. It does not set cookies, run analytics, or track users across sites.

5. Data Retention

Stored logs and dedupe records are capped; once a cap is reached, the oldest entries are automatically dropped as new ones are added.

6. Your Choices

Reply STOP to any comment the App has posted to opt out of future replies to your content. Subreddit moderators can uninstall the App at any time, which stops all data collection for that subreddit going forward.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them beyond what Reddit's platform itself governs under its own policies.

8. Changes to This Policy

This policy may be updated from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will reflect the most recent revision.
