Link Necromancer ยท Last updated July 9, 2026
Link Necromancer ("the App") is a Reddit Developer Platform (Devvit) app that scans posts and comments in subreddits where it is installed, checks whether linked URLs are dead, and replies with an archived copy from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine when one is available. By installing or interacting with the App, you agree to these Terms.
On a schedule (and on demand, when a moderator triggers a manual scan), the App reads recent and popular posts and comments in the installing subreddit, extracts URLs, checks whether each URL currently resolves, and โ for links it determines are dead and have an available Wayback Machine snapshot โ posts a public reply comment linking to that snapshot.
Replies posted by the App are automated, not manually reviewed before posting. Each
reply identifies itself as a bot and explains how to opt out. If you do not want the
App to reply to your comments, reply STOP to any comment the App has
made on your content and it will not reply to you again.
Use of the App is subject to, and does not override, Reddit's User Agreement, Content Policy, and Devvit Developer Terms. If anything here conflicts with those, Reddit's terms control.
The App is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind. Liveness checks and archive lookups are best-effort and may occasionally be inaccurate, delayed, or unavailable (for example, if a third-party service the App depends on is down).
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App's operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the App.
Subreddit moderators may uninstall the App at any time, at which point it stops running in that subreddit and its scheduled tasks cease.
These Terms may be updated from time to time; the "Last updated" date above will change accordingly. Continued use of the App after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
